Solar Panel Installation
Known as photovoltaic cell arrays, solar panels use energy that
is renewable with the sun's energy. This is an environmentally
sound and clean method of accumulating solar energy.
Solar panel installation is possible for different roof types.
You can either have the panels tilted up or flush mounted. Most
installers recommend installing solar panels when the home is
being roofed for the first time, or being reroofed.
Solar mounts that are flashed in prevent roof leaks. Use lag
stainless steel bolts for bolting the mounts through the rafters.
Structural attachments that are flashed in helps you avoid the
future cost of having to remove and reinstall solar panels. If
you have shingle-type composition roofing, these tend to be the
easiest types of roofs to work with. Tile roofs tend to be the
hardest to work with, since you need to walk across them to install
the solar panels, and they tend to be sharp.
Solar panels usually get installed on the tops of buildings,
rooftops or facilities that are stand-alone. It is important to
install the panels in such a way that they get directly hit by
the sunlight. This ensures that your panels are effective all
year round and not just in the summer months. Position the array
of photovoltaic in such a way that the noonday sun hits it directly,
since this will help it achieve maximum efficiency.
Take into consideration the different sunlight obstructions that
could occur. You can find any obstructions by checking to see
if the roof you plan to install the panels in have shadows. When
installing your panels, the first thing you will need to find
is a set of solar panel mounts. There are three different varieties
of solar mounts. These include flush mounts, roof-ground mounts
and pole mounts.
With these mounts, you can set up your panels on your very own
roof, against the side of a pole or even on a recreational vehicle,
or an RV.
More specifically, here are the steps to solar panel installation:
| |
1. Use specific solar panel mounts
for attaching the solar panels structurally to the roof.
2. Align the mounts on the top of rafters and use a pilot
bit to pre drill it, in order to avoid splitting the rafters.
You can find the rafters using a stud finder.
3. Use a laser sight or a chalk line to keep mounts in one
straight line.
4. Using stainless steel lag bolts, secure your mounts onto
the roof.
5. Place metal flashings on the mounts. Secure metal rails
to the different posts using stainless steel types of bolts
that measure 3/8ths of an inch.
6. Install the solar panels and connect them in such a way
that they become one array.
7. Connect the panels to the inverter by running the conduit.

These steps for solar panel installation are not only simple
and straightforward, but also incredibly worth it. Not only will
you get an unobtrusive, low-profile energy-creating device, you
are using green energy that helps the earth.
