Solar Garden Lights
Solar garden lights have many advantages over ones
powered by electricity. Exterior garden lights are a wonderful
way to enhance the natural beauty of one's garden and landscape.
But, ones powered by electricity can often be intrusive, dangerous,
and unattractive.
When working with electrical outdoor lighting, choices are often
limited to where the power source is located.
All those wires lying about one's beautiful landscape are also
sure to take away from the exact ambience one is trying to create
with outdoor lighting.
Solar garden lights are the perfect solution to these problems.
Solar garden lights operate by absorbing the sun's rays throughout
the day and converting it to energy at night. This is done through
a solar panel, usually located on top of the light itself.
The light is made up of a nickel-metal hydride battery that stores
the electricity and then uses an LED lamp to transmit the light.
The lights also come equipped with a timer or sensor that turns
the lights on when the sun goes down.
There are many different types of solar garden lights. They come
as floating lanterns, tabletop lanterns, lights used in spas, pools
and ponds, for pathway markers, as pole lamps in marking driveways,
along stepping stones and in decorative sculptures.
There are so many advantages to using solar garden lights as opposed
to electrical lights. The most obvious of those being that they
are cost effective. Once the lights have been initially purchased,
there is no more cost to running the lights since the sun's rays
are free.
Solar garden lights are also extremely easy to install. They usually
come in a few parts that 'snap' together and they can easily be
fitted into the ground. And, because there are no wires to worry
about, they can be arranged in virtually any way you choose. Because
solar garden lights come in individual units, a person can buy a
few now and add more later.
A person may also choose to just have one main piece of lighting
in the garden that is solar-powered. This can be a focal point for
others to look at. You can also choose to hide the solar garden
lights so they provide a glow over the other garden décor
rather than being the main attraction. Or, a person can go the other
way and use a whole bunch of solar garden lights as the main decoration.
Solar garden lights require very little maintenance. The only thing
really required is to wipe the top of the light, where the solar
panel is located, with a damp cloth once in awhile to remove the
dust and dirt. This will allow the full advantage of the sun's energy
to penetrate the panel.
With solar lights, you are only limited by your imagination since
there are many styles from which to choose. Some people enjoy holiday
solar garden lights because they can bring them out once a year
to celebrate the season, then tuck them away for the rest of the
time. Solar garden lights may also be mounted to statues of dogs,
cats and other animals and even embedded inside fake rocks that
help to decorate one's home.
For those who want flexibility, ecology and economy, solar garden
lights will help spruce of any home by using the power of the sun
at night.
